Jerome
Hunt is an artist with an eclectic and personal view.
In his work the effects of light and shade coalesce upon images that are
suspended in time. These subjects interpret the play of sunlight which
defines and transforms surface.
Jerome Hunt was born in Warwickshire in 1952 where he grew up and
attended local schools. His mother is French and he made numerous visits to
France. A love of France grew and with it a passion for the quality of light
to be found there. Jerome attended Wimbledon School of Art in 1972 and
qualified as a teacher of Art in 1976.
He has taught in schools in and around Peterborough and has been involved
in numerous local art exhibitions. He is a contributor to the Royal
Birmingham Society of Artists and has won prizes at Peterborough Exhibitions
Group.
His most recent works feature images from a visit to America and driving
the length of Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles. Here he found striking
motifs to paint, embedded in the decaying memory of this iconic road. He
makes frequent visits to France where he continues to find a rich source of
inspiration. Most recently he has integrated screen printing into his
studio’s repertoire and is currently experimenting with the medium to
complement his painting.
